Who We Are
Island Life Engineering, LLC (ISLE) is a consulting firm specializing in civil engineering, water resources planning, feasibility studies and construction management in the Pacific Islands.
Our firm was established in 2016 by Ron Gonzales, a US registered professional civil engineer with 36 years of experience serving clients throughout the western US and the Pacific Region. Ron has lived and worked in the Pacific Islands since 1990, relocating here after completing his Master’s Degree in Water Resources Planning at Stanford, and after establishing a prominent career in California.
He is joined by partners and friends Tom Polevich, a renowned geotechnical engineer based on Guam; and Lioubov Timokhina, a project logistics specialist based in the Republic of Palau.
Ron started ISLE after having established long term business and personal relationships with clients and colleagues on many of our islands, from Hawaii, to the Marianas; from Palau to the Federated States of Micronesia; and beyond to the Philippines. Over the course of his career, Ron grew to realize that what tethers him to this vast expanse of ocean, dotted with thousands of tiny gems called the Pacific Islands, was not simply the next project opportunity; but a deep, personal connection with the people and communities he served.
Ron noted his desire to continue serving the Pacific and to be a part of the Pacific Community to be the overriding factor in embarking on this next chapter in his profession. ISLE allows Ron to continue to be an involved corporate citizen, which allows him to focus on serving the people and communities he loves and calls home.
“I’ve realized over the years working across the vast Pacific, that it is the ocean that unites us, it does not separate us. I’m humbled and honored to have an opportunity to help create a better island life for the people of this special region of our world. In a way, we are all islanders, all living on this beautiful blue planet together, whether we hail from Hawaii or Honduras; Marshalls or Moscow. We should all help each other create a better life for one another.” Ron Gonzales
